Face Routine

I get asked all the time about my make-up routine. Let me just say right off the bat – IT’S A LOT. A lot as in, a lot of product, time, and money spent. I love and appreciate all makeup, but I am extremely picky when it comes to foundation and such, because of the constant breakouts I deal with. I can’t willy-nilly wear whatever I want. If something works for me, then I stick with it. End of story.

Some of you will look at my list and be like, “WTF!” Yes. I’m going to list eight products that I start with every day; every DAMN day, and there are no shortcuts. It’s like baking a cake – if you leave out any one ingredient, the whole thing goes to shit. Okay… okay… that may be a bit dramatic, but you get the gist. You asked what I use on my face, and I’m going to divulge. Here we go.

The POREfessional: Matte Rescue Invisible Finish Mattifying Gel
    $28/1.60 US fl. oz.
.albumtemp-6After I have washed my face, toned and moisturized, I use this for my base – prior to putting any foundation on. This mattifying gel feels light on my face and lets my skin breath. It not only makes my pores appear smaller, but it gives my face a polished, matte finish that I love.
    Contour Cream Kit
    $40/6 pans x 0.16 oz
.albumtemp-5I’m not gonna lie – I struggled with cream contouring. All I’ve ever known is good ol’ powder. Yaaaas. Safe, reliable powder. The first few times I tried contouring with a cream base, I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. Well, with a little practice and a tweak here and there with my application/technique, I feel very comfortable with it now.
  3. NARS
    Radiant Creamy Concealer
    $30/6 mL
.albumtemp-3Lord. Where do I even begin. THIS CONCEALER IS THE TITS. Seriously. The coverage is insane, the application and texture goes on so smooth, and it’s long-wearing. Just get it. Trust me.
    Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation
    $43/1.01 fl. oz

    Born This Way Foundation
    $39/1 oz
.albumtemp-4I mix both foundations. The MUFE foundation has special pigments in it that smooth and blur your skin. This is the stuff that is relied on when people are being filmed. That HD and 4K is no joke! Gotta make sure your skin is flawless. I love the Too Faced foundation because it is medium-to-full coverage (where as the MUFE is medium). I am all about being caked up if you haven’t noticed. The beautiful thing is, these products don’t make you feel like you have a ton on. When people see “natural” makeup in magazines and editorials, those are some of the hardest looks to pull off. “Natural” isn’t “natural” – in order to look flawless, a lot of product comes into play.
    Boi-ing Brightening Concealer
    $20/0.15 oz.
.albumtemp-2(Sigh). I am so in love with this brightening concealer. Once my foundation is blended and buffed in, I apply this brightening concealer under my eyes. It gives you a beautiful, radiant glow, and gives you this “I’m awake” look, even if you’re drop-dead tired. Stuff is bomb.
    Translucent Loose Setting Powder
    $38/1 oz.
.albumtemp-1Okay. I would be lost if I didn’t have this in my kit. This powder is EVERYTHING, and more. I use this to bake. I place it under my eyes, forehead, and chin. It helps mattify my face even more and removes any shine.
White Charcoal Mattifying MakeUp Setting Spray
    $38/5.07 fl. oz.
.albumtemp-7After everything has been blended to my satisfaction, I spray this a couple times on my face. This helps set my make-up and give it a boost so that it wears all day. The charcoal in this spray activates during the day and helps absorb oil. As you can see, the bottle is just about empty.

Well, there you have it. All the products I use on my face from priming to full foundation. Hopefully I gave you enough information to run with. If you have any questions, feel free to sound off in the comments.
